Valcent Products Inc. appoints Greenhouse Entrepreneur to Advisory board (VCTZF.ob)
Valcent Products Inc. (VCTZF.ob), has appointed a new member to it’s advisory board which already has a pretty stacked deck in terms of Advisors.
Valcent (VCTZF.ob) makes a line of vertically configured fruit and vegetable growing products meant to facilitate an efficient and green way of producing fruits and vegtables. This may sound like an idea that is too simple to have any merit, but those are usually the best ideas that make the most money!

Not only do we here at GreenStockTrader.com think this is a novel and expandable idea, but we feel it is a very green way to grow produce, which you might not know, traditionally has a very large carbon footprint. Basically the green merits can be broken down into three categories:
1) Physical Footprint– everone knows the most efficent use of space is to build up, and thats just what they do. Land: they’re not making any more of it…
2) Urban Proximity– the ability of large urban centers to produce their own produce locally, in warehouse style set-ups, dramatically reducing the need to ship heavy fruits and vegetables from rural growing areas vast distances away. For example, in the town I live in Southern Ontario, Canada, there are millions of acres of greenhouses growing produce for China– veggies are mostly water– so basically they are shipping by truck then boat, millions of pounds of water half way across the world– that requires a lot of diesel and other fuels.
3) Reduced Consumption of input resources– the company states that their system reduces water consumption by as much as 90% compared to traditional outdoor, field farming. Also, it is also much more water conscious then even modern indoor greenhouse set-ups. Velcent’s (VCTZF.ob) products also use light more efficently and effectively, wich in turn uses less electricity. The company states that they are starting to use LED lighting in their Vertical greenhouse operations, and LED lights use a fraction of the power an incandescent flashbulb uses and much less than the in-vogue compact fluorescent lighting systems.
The botton line is that all resources are becoming more and more scarce and we as global citizes need to be more cognizant of our behviours. We all need to reduce the sizes of our carbon foot print– it is more realistic to do on our own compared to expecting top down action from large corporations and governments. Any little bit off efficiency helps, and contrary to conventional wisdom, efficiency improvements are the least expensive way to reduce dependence on non renewable energy.
I think this idea will take-off and witth the team Valcent (VCTZF.ob) has assembled, and I think they will execute a sucessful growth strategy that builds shareholder value all while helping the planet.
I think this will be huge in developing countries like China and India! Just think about it, they are so crowded in their huge metropolis’ and this technology would be a perfect fit!
